A Change in Donating to the Buddhist Centre

Buddhasamagama, the Centre’s finance manager, has some news about how we can now give to the Buddhist Centre, as well as a message of thanks!

He says:

Dear Sangha Members,

A little while ago we learned that Virgin Money is closing its charitable arm at the end of November. After researching the different options for replacement services, we have made the decision to replace them with PayPal.

There are a few reasons we decided to go with PayPal. Firstly, they are an established company. Moving our donation set up from one company to another requires a lot of admin, we’re hoping that by going with PayPal, we won’t have to change for a long time! It also means that we can trust their services are tried and tested, making it easier for all of us. Lots of charities, including Triratna Centres, have been using PayPal for their donations for a long time and have had a positive experience.

Secondly, PayPal doesn’t charge either the donor or the recipient for donations. I know some of you might have ethical concerns about PayPal, I personally feel much more comfortable knowing that PayPal won’t be benefiting financially from this move.

Finally, it should be straightforward for everyone to use. You don’t need a PayPal account to donate – all major cards are accepted. The layout and way of donating remains largely the same.

If you have a direct debit set up with Virgin Money, we would be really grateful if you could switch it over to PayPal before the end of November. This means that we wouldn’t lose your valuable and generous donations.

Thank you very much for your financial support, without it our message of truth, love and community would reach far fewer people.

With Metta,

Buddhasamagama
