School and Group Visits and More
Welcoming Schools, Colleges, Groups and Teams
Schools and Students of all Ages
Hundreds of students from primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities and community and faith groups visit our beautiful Buddhist Centre each year.
Our team has many years of experience leading group visits to explore Buddhism. Sessions usually include talks, discussions, questions and age-appropriate meditations. Each visit can be tailored to suit your curriculum needs and learning objectives.
Our two shrine rooms each have a capacity of around thirty and it may be possible to have two sessions running at the same time if needed.
We can also arrange for one of our teaching team to visit your school or college.

More information
Charging for Booked Visits
Our Centre is an independent registered charity so, unfortunately, we have to charge for guided visits to allow us to run the Centre and offer the Dharma. It may be possible to offer a lower price for schools where the charges are outside of the budget. Please get in touch.
How long a visit should we book?
For primary and special needs groups, a visit is 1½ hours is usually suitable. For secondary and adult student groups, we recommend 1½ or 2 hours.
A risk assessment document is available upon request.
What to wear
There are no clothing restrictions. We ask you to remove your shoes to enter the shrine room unless disability prevents this. You may wish to wear comfortable clothing, as you may be sitting on meditation cushions, although chairs are available too.
Lunch
Sorry, we do not have a lunch area.
Coach parking
All the car parks in the city centre have barriers so the coach will need to park in one of the larger, open car parks (for example on Rochdale Road). Dropping off outside the Centre may be difficult but it is possible on Union Street between our block and the Abel Heywood. Our Centre is well served by trams and buses and many schools use public transport to reduce their costs.
Access
Access to the building is via steps. Unfortunately we do not have ramped access. Please contact us in advance to discuss any specific access requirements so we can support your visit.

Meditation at Work
Team Sessions with Heart
The Buddhist Centre offers a range of options for local businesses and other organisations interested in bringing an approach of mindfulness and positivity to their work. Small and medium sized teams may wish to come to us – an attractive, affordable location right in the heart of Manchester. Or we can come to you, if that would work better. We can, at its simplest, offer meeting space with a little extra, right through to a complete tailor-made programme.
A package to suit your workplace
Typical packages are for full or half days and are led by a team of experienced teachers and facilitators, working with you on your requirements. We also offer shorter sessions on two themes – Cultivating Awareness and Cultivating Positivity. These include a practical introduction to meditation, with a focus on the part it can play in our daily lives.
Typical prices
Pricing varies with different packages but usually start at around £250 for a half day here at our Centre, and £150 for a one-hour session at your premises. Special rates for charities and voluntary groups may be possible.
