A Message from Acharashraddha
Dear Sangha Friends . . .
A huge big heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated to the fundraiser for my leaving Manchester Buddhist Centre. I am blown away by your generosity and kind words.
As some of you will know, I have been reflecting on the Parable of the Rain Cloud from the White Lotus Sutra and as I move into a period of having some time off from paid work, your generous donations will enable me to have some quiet time and continue my reflections. I will be enjoying having some R and R too.
I have been reflecting on my time as Mitra Convenor and what an honour it has been to serve the Sangha in this way. I took on the role in May 2017 from Dayanandi. How fortunate I was to follow in her footsteps. The women’s Sangha was thriving at that time due largely to all the love and care that she had put into the role. A big thank you to Dayanandi and to all the Manchester Dharmacharinis for all that you give to the Sangha.
So Many Friends
I feel particularly privileged to have had so many one-to-one conversations with many of you, and hear the sharing of both your inspirations and challenges. I have made many friends and have shared my time here with wonderful teams. All the team members I have worked with have a deep love and care for the Centre and for the Three Jewels which has shone through in all that they have given. There have been many highlights in the last four years, too many to mention here. I hope to see you at the ritual handover on 9th April, where I will share more of my experience. I am so happy to be handing over to Suryaka as your new Women’s Mitra Convenor and to Karunatara as her assistant.
This is not Goodbye!
It’s au revoir from the role as Mitra Convenor. I will still be around attending Manchester events, meeting friends, attending my amazing chapter and fabulous study group. See you all again soon and thank you again for everything.
