Making Local Connections

Suryashraddha recently held a Buddhist “service” for the small, friendly congregation at St Margaret’s Church in Whalley Range, familiar to many members of our Buddhist community living nearby and a very welcoming local faith community. After a short introduction to Buddhism, she led an informal three-fold puja and meditation, with questions and answers afterwards. Taramaitri went along too, and her responses in the puja really helped others feel able to join in.
Taramaitri says:
I want to rejoice in your confidence, courage, kindness, humility and clarity, Suryashraddha. You did so well! Beautifully and sensitively led and you’d obviously put a lot of thought into what to do and say – your offering to us all. It was especially lovely that some folk joined in, wasn’t it? And they made candle offerings. Really well held in a respectful way, enabling them to feel relaxed. I loved the meditation you led too!
There were around seventeen of us in the congregation, mostly Christian, I imagine. Quite a number of people said how much they’d loved it and really appreciated it.
Well done! Sadhu!
