108-Year Puja for Bhante Sangharakshita

Mon 26th Aug : 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Bhante Sangharakshita, our teacher and founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order and Community, was born 94 years ago today, and died on 30th October 2018. Each year, on the anniversary of Bhante’s birth, we celebrate with a special 108 year Puja. Puja means devotional ritual – more about Puja.

Who is the event for?

It’s for Order members, Mitras and Centre regulars who have completed a Buddhism Going Deeper course. Please get in touch if you’re not sure.
No need to book, just turn up a few minutes before we start. No charge, but as an unfunded charity, we rely on the generosity of people who use and value the Centre to help cover running costs, over £6,000 a week. We will welcome donations on the day and beyond.

About the Puja to Sangharakshita

In a ceremony at the end of the 2003 Combined Order Convention, each Triratna Buddhist Centre received a wooden box containing special items, blessed by Sangharakshita, to be used just once each year on his birthday. This Puja and the special items used within it is a thread of connection between Sangharakshita and his disciples through the years.

Do come along to find out more and take part in this significant ritual to mark our teacher’s birth.

Health Issues

If there are any health issues, physical, emotional or mental, that could affect your participation in a course or event, please contact the Buddhist Centre on 0161 834 9232, and ask to talk confidentially to one of our Order members, before deciding whether to attend.
