Art and Dharma Practice, with Book Launch

Sat 23rd Mar : 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Cover of book: The trees turned turquoise

Dayanandi and Taralocana show how the practice of art and creativity has been a transformative Dharma practice for them. Taralocana will share, with images, the spiritual journey that her art course is taking her on, and Dayanandi will launch her book, The Trees turned Turquoise: A Journal of Transformation through Artwork.

Come and hear how everything in our world, outer as well as inner, can become part of our spiritual life and practice.

Who is this Event for?

It's for anyone who has completed an introductory Buddhism course here, or has attended Saturday morning Tools for Living Your Life for six weeks or more. Please get in touch if you’re not sure. This Saturday afternoon is similar in spirit to the recent Teachers of Enlightenment series and the forthcoming Encountering the Enlightened One.

There’s no need to book or to bring anything special. Arrive from 1 pm with some lunch to settle in and have an informal chat if you like, and you’re also welcome to stay on afterwards for a cuppa. Dayanandi will be signing copies of her book, which are available at £15 in the Centre’s shop as well as here on the day, with all proceeds going to Tiratanaloka Retreat Centre.

The Trees turned Turquoise

In January 2023, Dayanandi embarked on Thirty Days of Art, a commitment to produce a piece of artwork every day for thirty days, sponsored as a fundraiser for Tiratanaloka, Triratna’s Buddhist retreat centre for women. There were days of free-flowing creativity, but rather more common were the days of doubt and resistance. But through them all something new began to emerge; a truer and deeper perception, not only of the objects she was drawing but also of herself. Her book is the journal of those thirty days.
