Buddha Day Festival 2019

Sun 19th May : 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Vajra Hall Buddha

Acharashraddha and Vishangka lead our most important festival of the year – a celebration of the Buddha’s enlightenment. This year, we lead up to the festival with a week of optional daily pujas and readings to help us imagine the Buddha – see calendar for details.

Who is the event for?

It’s for Order members, Mitras and Centre regulars who have completed a Buddhism Level 2 / Going Deeper course. Please get in touch if you’re not sure.

Please bring a Buddha Rupa

Together we will create a beautiful shrine. Please bring your own Buddha or Bodhisattva statue, or rupa, to place on the shrine during the ritual, remembering to label it underneath with your name. The collected figures will represent the different qualities of enlightenment – fearlessness, generosity, loving-kindness, wisdom. We also invite you to wear a splash of yellow or gold to mark your connection with the Buddha Jewel.

Please be here in time for a prompt start in the tea area at 1.30pm, as this is where the ritual will begin

12.30: Shared lunch Please bring vegan food to share. If it's vegetarian but not vegan, please label it clearly.
1.30: Ritual including the Buddha’s life story and mantras.
2.15: Welcome to the day
2.30: Festival talk by Amaradaya
3.30: Tea break or quiet time in the shrine room
4.00: Meditation on the Buddha
4.30: Sevenfold Puja and readings
5.30: End
