Simply Being Attentive

Padmadasa joins us from his home in North Wales to lead the first of two sessions on Simply Being Attentive, the next on 31st May. Padmadasa loves mediation, and gazing out of his window, just wondering.

These sessions are an opportunity to come together and practise, with a focus on deepening meditation. Each week, as a community, we explore different aspects and approaches to our meditation practice. The evenings vary, but you can expect periods of meditation with short talks and discussion - sometimes in small groups - and a ten-minute break around the mid-point.

Padmadasa writes:

Probably by now you’ve experienced some of the many benefits of mindful meditation practices, and I hope this evening will help to broaden and consolidate your personal explorations. Becoming aware of our direct experience of living, right now in this fleeting moment, can reveal the clarity, aliveness and openness available within consciousness. Such mindfulness can also encourage the recognition of a benevolent kindness that’s always available, but often overlooked.

I’ll share some ways in which we can use the practice of meditation to look towards and from our direct experience, by the conscious engagement of this natural everyday attentive and always available awareness. Anything I can share will likely be what’s current for me, and will be in the form of guided meditations, as for me this feels most natural. Hopefully you won’t get too bored with this style, but if you do, well that’ll something very immediate to explore and enjoy!

Who is the event for?

It’s suitable for anyone familiar with the two meditation practices we teach here – Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana – and with at least six months regular meditation practice.

Supporting the Centre

We want to offer as much as we can freely online for as long as can. These are very difficult times for us though, and being mostly closed for so long means we have lost much of our income: we need your help! So if you value our Centre and community, please think about making a regular or one-off donation here.
