How to go Deeper in Meditation, Online with Mahasraddha

Mon 27th Jul : 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

“The Monday night classes are such an important and helpful addition to sangha life. At the end of a busy Monday I’m often frazzled, but the experience of sitting back, receiving such fantastic teaching and being guided in new ways to experience and work with my mind is so refreshing. Thanks so much.”

There are many ways we can work on our mind, but one of the most direct is through meditation. In these online sessions, experienced meditation teachers look at how we can work with our mind effectively and access deeper states of mindfulness.

Tonight Mahasraddha presents the second session in a series of four: Unlocking Treasures of the Mind in the Presence of the Buddha. The remaining sessions will be on 17th and 24th August.

Who is the event for?

It’s suitable for anyone familiar with the two meditation practices we teach here – Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana – and with at least six months regular meditation practice.

Each evening will vary, but you can expect periods of meditation with short talks and discussion – sometimes in small groups – and a ten-minute break around the mid-point.

Mahasraddha writes:

Meditation and visualising the Buddha have been a very important part of my life as a dharma practitioner. I relish exploring the infinite heights and depths of the mind through meditation; visualising the Buddha – or Buddanussati – has been an important complementary companion in these explorations.

Last week we kicked off the four-session series, Unlocking Treasures of the Mind in the Presence of The Buddha, with a look at the quality of mind that is central to Buddhist practice and vision – Equanimity. You can still catch up with the evening on YouTube. This week, we’ll be looking at why Metta, or loving-kindness, is a treasure of the mind, and how sitting in the presence of the Buddha intensifies the quality of boundless metta. Do join me!

Supporting the Centre

We want to offer as much as we can freely online for as long as can. These are very difficult times for us though, and being closed means we have lost much of our income: we need your help! So if you value our Centre and community, please think about making a regular or one-off donation here.
