Open 11 am – 3 pm Today
Tue 29th Sep : 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Manchester Buddhist Centre was closed as a building in March, because of the Coronavirus outbreak. After a lot of planning and health and safety work, we’re now open for a few hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As a Covid-secure place of worship we are hoping to continue through a fast changing situation.
Thinking of coming to the Centre on a Tuesday or Thursday?
Firstly, please read our advice on visiting the Centre.
On what to expect – well, you’ll be greeted by a helpful receptionist in a face-covering. You can book on to courses and find out more about Buddhism, our Buddhist community and what we do here. Parts of the building and its statuary and art works may be available to look at – certainly those on the ground floor. Take as many photos as you like, though obviously not of other visitors without permission. The book and gift shop will be open, where you can pay by card – no minimum amount – or in cash. Very sorry but we can’t take donations of second hand books at the moment, though we are hoping to keep some available for sale.
Join us online, and maybe in person
We are committed to continuing to share our teachings, practices and friendly connections during this challenging period, and our classes, courses and other events are currently available online through Zoom and sometimes YouTube. We’ll continue offering online events and classes, maybe alongside in-person events, or events that are a mix of in-person and online. On Tuesdays, lunchtime led meditation will take place in the Lotus Hall as well as on Zoom, but it’s still online only on Thursdays.
Unfortunately, our much loved Earth Cafe will not be re-opening.
Staying in touch
If anything changes to an event or course that you have booked on, we will be in touch by email. We’re responding to emails at firstname.lastname@example.org, but we’re afraid we are not able to answer phone calls while we’re closed. Please check the website frequently, and join our mailing list to stay up to date with new online events, and news on opening arrangements.
