Sangha Celebration and Ordination Send-off for Kirstine Pearson
Fri 30th Apr : 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Our dear Sangha friend Kirstine has been invited to join the Triratna Buddhist Order. After years of training and dedication, she will soon set off for her ordination retreat. Order members make their commitment to Going for Refuge to the Three Jewels of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha the central point of their lives, and undertake to practise a traditional set of ten ethical precepts in both private and public ceremonies. On ordination they are given a new name in Sanskrit or Pali to symbolise their spiritual rebirth.
Everyone is welcome to join us online in wishing Kirstine well as she embarks on this key stage of her spiritual journey. Kirstine has been involved with our Centre and community for many years and many people will know her from leading meditation at lunchtimes and as part of the team running Tools for Living on Saturdays. Ordination send-offs are always lovely celebrations so do come along even if you don’t know Kirstine very well, or even at all.
We’ll hear a bit more about Kirstine and about ordination, and there will be some Buddhist ritual and meditation. If parts are unfamiliar, it’s fine to just watch.
