A Deeper Understanding of Interconnectedness

In 2009, Sangharakshita, founder of Triratna Buddhist Community and Order, emphasised the need for humanity to apologise deeply to nature and the world. He highlighted the consequences of our actions, echoing the Buddha’s teachings on karma. Sangharakshita urged us to reflect on our lives and their impact on suffering and freedom. He called for a close examination of how we live on our planet, Earth. The Buddha’s threefold path, comprising ethics, meditation, and wisdom, was presented as a way to explore these teachings through personal experience. He emphasised the importance of a supportive spiritual community and cautioned against rigid beliefs and judgments, advocating for a deeper understanding of interconnectedness.

Who are the Manchester Earth Sangha?

Manchester Earth Sangha comprises people who are part of the wider Manchester Sangha and is organised by Manchester Earth Sangha Kula. The purpose of the group is to:

  1. Exemplify engagement as a Triratna Buddhist community with issues relating to climate change and protection of the biosphere that sustains us all
  2. Act as a resource and support for Sangha members wishing to explore their response to climate change. This applies to those exploring this area for the first time, as well as those who have already engaged in activism in this area
  3. Remain unaffiliated to any political party or cause such as Just Stop Oil or Extinction Rebellion
