Men’s Meditation Retreat

Fri 23rd Feb : 6:00 pm - Sun 25th Feb : 3:00 pm

£75 – £155
Man meditating

A new weekend retreat offering a great opportunity to deepen your meditation practice in beautiful surroundings with friends in our community.

Absorption and Insight

Buddhist meditation leads us firstly into the depth and stillness of absorption. Once we’re established in this, we can then begin to realise our unbounded nature, become more aligned with Reality, and thus alleviate the suffering caused by the delusion of being fixed and separate from the rest of life.

All of this is infused with joy, one of the central awakening factors which is an essential aspect for Wisdom.

During this weekend, we’ll be guided into a direct experience of these three crucial facets of Buddhist meditation. Join Silabodhi, Vidyapala and Saraha for this weekend of practice, investigation and community.

Who is this Weekend for?

It’s suitable for anyone with six months' experience of the two meditations we practise in the Triratna Buddhist Community - Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana. Please get in touch if you’re not sure.

Intensive meditation weekends may bring up difficult issues though, so if you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, or are at a painful point in your life, please talk to us before you book, so that we can make sure that this weekend is going to be the best thing for you at this time.

Venue

The retreat is at Brinscall Hall near Chorley, Lancashire, a beautiful Victorian country house set in rambling gardens – map link below. Owned by the School of Practical Philosophy, Brinscall Hall is used to hosting retreats. All vegan meals are included, and lots of cups of tea. Please contact us on vols@manchesterbuddhistcentre.org.uk if you have any medical requirements around food.

Disabled access is good on the ground floor but less so upstairs – please get in touch with any queries. Accommodation is in shared rooms with a very limited number of bedrooms for those with medical requirements – please contact us on info@manchesterbuddhistcentre.org.uk to discuss arrangements before booking. There’s plenty of camping space if you prefer the outdoors and can bring your own equipment.

Any other queries about the venue, please contact us on vols@manchesterbuddhistcentre.org.uk, not the venue. Thanks.
