|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 2:00 pm on Thursday, happening 3 times

Robin singing

Steve Robinson is both a member of our Buddhist community and a freelance music lecturer with his own business Verdun Allen Music Foundation, which offers short courses on the lives and works of famous composers and periods of musical history.

As a fundraiser for Manchester Buddhist Centre, Steve would like to offer two series of three online sessions, where he’ll explore the connection between music and the natural world.

In this first series of three, Steve will look at how composers from the Middle Ages to the present day have been influenced by various birds, some native and some from other countries. These sessions will involve both music and discussion and will take place on three consecutive Thursday afternoons: 11th, 18th and 25th June, online via Zoom.

There’s no need to attend all three sessions, although they do form a complete series, These sessions are offered freely to all – with a suggested donation of £10 per session: £30 for the whole series, to go to Manchester Buddhist Centre. Please donate here

To join this course, or for any further details, please email Steve Robinson at stevenrobinson1970@msn.com. Places are limited so please book in good time

The second series of three sessions will be on the connection between music and rivers, seas and storms. It will begin on Tuesday 16th June at 2 pm.

Supporting the Centre

We want to offer as much as we can freely online for as long as can. These are very difficult times for us though, and being closed means we have lost much of our income: we need your help! So if you value our Centre and community, please think about making a regular or one-off donation here.
