Online Talk from Taravandana: The Four Samgrahavastus – Generosity

Fri 29th May : 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Everyone welcome to join us at another series of Friday night online talks. This time we have four talks from Taravandana – come to any or all of them. Tonight Taravandana will be introducing the Samgravastus and looking at the first – Dana or generosity.

The Four Samgrahavastus

In modern life, many of us long for more connection and community with others – especially now we are physically isolated from each other. But, what can we do to create healthy and thriving communities? One useful point of reference is the Buddhist teaching of the Four Samgrahavastus.

The Four Samgrahavastus describes the four things that we need to bring together and sustain a healthy community. They are generosity, loving speech, beneficial activity and bringing the best out of each other. Taravandana will explore these four things over four consecutive weeks, offering personal reflections of the role they have played in her life and practical tips on how we might practice them more fully.

Short talks will be followed by small group discussions and a chance to report back to the whole group. There’ll be a short break around the mid-point of the evening.

Supporting the Centre

We want to offer as much as we can freely online for as long as can. These are very difficult times for us though, and being closed means we have lost much of our income but not much of our costs: we need your help! So if you value our Centre and community, please think about making a regular or one-off donation here.
