Tuesdays and Thursdays
Manchester Buddhist Centre Front

Our friendly and welcoming book and gift shop and general reception are open from mid-April, two days a week to start with – Tuesdays and Thursday from 11am til 3pm.

We hope you’ll still be able to find your usual favourite Buddhist books, incense and gifts all under the same roof. There will be no lunchtime meditation in the shrine room, but you can join us online at 1 pm as usual on Zoom. Only the shop and reception will be open at first, with no other activities in the Centre for the time being. We’ll keep you updated as and when this changes.

Thinking of coming to the Centre?

Firstly, please read our advice on visiting the Centre in Covid times.

On what to expect – well, you’ll be greeted by a helpful receptionist in a face-covering. You can book on to online courses and find out more about Buddhism, our Buddhist community and what we do here. In our book and gift shop you can pay by card – no minimum amount – or in cash. Very sorry but we can’t take donations of second hand books at the moment, though we are hoping to keep some available for sale.

Join our events online

We are committed to keep sharing our teachings, practices and friendly connections during this challenging period, and our classes, courses and other events have been running successfully online through Zoom over the past year. Many of our talks and some led meditations are available on YouTube too. We’ll continue offering online events and classes for now, maybe alongside in-person events in future as regulations permit.

Elsewhere in the building . . .

• Our friends at Bodywise on the Centre’s second floor have moved many of their activities online too, and have their own opening arrangements – More information on Bodywise website
Four Side Vegan Pizza is now offering collection and delivery from our basement café space, with eat-in options maybe available in future depending on government policy

Staying in touch

If anything changes to an event or course that you have booked on, we will be in touch by email. We’re responding to emails at info@manchesterbuddhistcentre.org.uk, but we’re afraid we are not able to answer phone calls when the Centre’s closed. Please check the website frequently, and join our mailing list to stay up to date with new online events, and news on opening arrangements.

Supporting the Centre

We want to offer as much as we can freely online for as long as we can. These are very difficult times for us though, and being mostly closed for so long means we have lost much of our income: we need your help! So if you value our Centre and community, please think about making a regular or one-off donation here.
