Hybrid Hybrid Event

Ordination Send-off for Cia and Karen

Sat 20th Jul : 1:45 pm - 4:00 pm

Hybrid Hybrid Event
Ordination: Kesa with Triratna Three Jewels

Join us in the Lotus Hall or online to celebrate Cia Vinten and Karen Levin as they set off for their Ordination retreats, where they will become members of the Triratna Buddhist Order. Cia will have a private ordination at Adhisthana, then her public ordination in the Lotus Hall here at Manchester Buddhist Centre on Sunday 4th August. Karen is going to Spain for a two – week ordination retreat at Akashavana.

We’ll give them a rousing and heartfelt send-off from Sangha, friends and family, to rejoice in them and wish them well on their retreat.

There will be an introduction to what Ordination is all about and several friends will tell us a bit about their connection and rejoice in their merits. These occasions are always moving and inspiring and it is great to gather together in large numbers to put a lot of energy into the send-off!

Join us online if you can’t get here in person. This time, we’ll gather on Zoom for a bit of a chat hosted by Buddhasevaka, before watching the send-off live-stream on YouTube together, and then get back together afterwards, still on Zoom.

About Ordination and Order Members

Everyone Welcome

Cia and Karen will have people here specifically to support them, along with large numbers of our Sangha or community. We’d also love to see anyone who’s new to our Centre even if you don’t really know them. If Buddhist ritual is unfamiliar to you, it's fine to just watch.

You may want to bring our friends cards as they embark on this important stage in their life, or send them c/o the Buddhist Centre if you can’t be here on the day.

1:45 pm: Gather on the ground floor of the Buddhist Centre, have a chat and settle in. Zoom participants: Log in and do the same
2 pm: Prompt start in the shrine room. Live stream begins on YouTube and is shared directly with Zoom participants
4 pm: Event at the Buddhist Centre ends, along with the live stream. If you’re here in person, stay on for tea and cakes and spend a bit of time together. Zoom participants do the same, please bring your own cake!
4:15: Zoom event ends
