Sharing our PracticePractising mindfulness and loving-kindness during times of crisis is ultimately what supports us all to stay emotionally positive and to grow. We are therefore committed to continuing to share our teachings and practices with you during this challenging period. We are taking some of our classes and courses online, so please sign up to our mailing list and check our website regularly. During this period we'll be responding to emails at firstname.lastname@example.org but we won't be answering phone calls. The Buddha taught that we are deeply interconnected in seen and unseen ways. This virus has affected us all and we as a community continue to send our well-wishing and care to all those throughout the world who have been severely affected by the virus.
Five of our friends are going to be ordained! Tonight we’re celebrating Sundeep Grewal, Claire Morris, Alex Stirling, Michael Procter and Lynne-Marie Eccleston, wishing them well as they prepare to set off on special retreats during which they will join the Triratna Buddhist Order.
Who is the event for? It’s for Order members, Mitras and Centre regulars who have completed a Buddhism Going Deeper course. Please get in touch if you’re not sure. Friends and family are of course welcome too.
No need to book, just turn up a few minutes before we start. No charge, but as an unfunded charity, we rely on the generosity of people who use and value the Centre to help cover running costs, over £6,000 a week. We will welcome donations on the day and beyond.
Can you help out on the Day?We often need friendly Sangha members to help make this sort of event run smoothly. Much of the work is done before and after, so you'd still be able to join in with everyone else. Please contact Sundeep on email@example.com if you are interested in joining the organising team. Thank you!
Rejoicing in our Five Friends
There will be an introduction to what Ordination is all about, several friends will speak about the people going off for ordination, and they will say a little about their journey to this point. We’ll rejoice in their merits and finish with a celebratory ritual. Do come along even if you don’t really know them all! These evenings are always moving and inspiring. It’s great to gather together in large numbers and give a rousing and heartfelt send-off! You may also want to bring cards or gifts as they embark on this important stage in their lives.
7 pm: Welcome and introduction; Talk by Mahashraddha about ordination; Rejoicings in merit
8 pm: Tea break or silent time in shrine room
8.25: Short talks from Alex, Michael, Claire, Lynne-Marie and Sundeep about their journey to ordination; followed by mantra and blessings, led by Dayanandi
