Poems and Pictures for Young Indian Futures

Sat 15th Sep : 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Young Indian Futures

This afternoon Shirley Percy will present Sweet and Sour, a fascinating new booklet of her warm, humane, sad and funny poems; and contemporary artist Susan Aggarwal will be exhibiting her emotional, dramatic and colourful collection of artwork. Shirley’s booklets and Sue’s paintings, hand-painted lampshades and gift cards will be for sale on the day, and before that in our bookshop.

Sue and Shirley are donating the proceeds to a project giving dignity and independence to disadvantaged young people in India, many of them Triratna Buddhists. Do come along for a friendly and enjoyable afternoon in support of a great project. All welcome – bring your friends! No need to book, just turn up a few minutes before we start.

we each taste
our life’s bowl

Young Indian Futures – Empowering Young People

For many young people in India, the country’s wealth is far beyond their grasp. Many live in extreme poverty with barely enough to eat. Each year, young people come to Young Indian Futures projects to train in the principles of social development and learn work-based skills.
