Poetry Discussion: Jo Shapcott

Sat 11th Jan : 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Jo Shapcott Poet

The Centre’s small and friendly poetry group, led by Edmund Prestwich — all welcome. No need to book, just turn up a few minutes before we start. No charge, but as an unfunded charity, we rely on the generosity of people who use and value the Centre to help cover running costs, over £6,000 a week. We will welcome donations on the day and beyond.

This month we’re looking at poems by Jo Shapcott. We usually bring copies of the poems to be discussed, and try to read them in advance. Edmund’s website has full information on the poems we’ll be looking at, and also where to find them. If you have or can borrow copies of Shapcott’s Her Book and / or Of Mutability please bring them.

Jo Shapcott will be reading for Poets & Players in the Whitworth Art Gallery on Saturday 25th January.

Monthly Poetry Discussion

We usually, but not always, get together on the second Saturday of the month to discuss a poet and their work, usually, but not always, a modern one. We sometimes take a break in the summer and at other holiday times. Keep an eye on What’s On for details. It's always safest to check the website before setting off in case the details have changed

Creative Writing at the Buddhist Centre

Various writing groups come and go at the Centre, organised by their own members - keep an eye on the notice board on the ground floor. There are occasional one-off creative writing events here too - check What's On.

Health Issues

If there are any health issues, physical, emotional or mental, that could affect your participation in a course or event, please contact the Buddhist Centre on 0161 834 9232, and ask to talk confidentially to one of our Order members, before deciding whether to attend.
