Sangha Day Festival 2019
Sun 17th Nov : 2:00 pm - 7:30 pm
On Sangha Day we celebrate our spiritual community in one of the four main Buddhist festivals in the year, usually held at the time of the full moon. Invoking the spirit of the Bodhicitta – the heart’s wish for enlightenment for all beings – we’ll explore the myth of the thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara and what that means for us in 2019’s Manchester.
Silabodhi, Vishangka and Acharashraddha will lead the day and we invite you to wear something red to honour the Sangha Jewel. To express our appreciation for one another, please also bring a small gift to be ritually placed on the shrine and then shared with our friends.
Mitras and Order members will have an opportunity to ritually re-affirm their commitment to practice and to our community during a special puja. Traditional offerings of flower, candle and incense will be available.
After sharing a meal, there’ll be a chance to bid for the many talents of our Sangha in the return of our ever-popular Sangha Skills Auction. Not to be missed!
Who is the event for? It’s for Order members, Mitras and Centre regulars who have completed a Buddhism Going Deeper course. Please get in touch if you’re not sure.
No need to book, just turn up a few minutes before we start. No charge, but as an unfunded charity, we rely on the generosity of people who use and value the Centre to help cover running costs, over £6,000 a week. We will welcome donations on the day and beyond.
