Online Sangha Evening: Exploring Dukkha
Fri 18th Sep : 7:00 pm - 8:45 pm
Centre regulars get together for talks, discussion and friendship at our fortnightly Sangha evenings organised and introduced by Taravandana and Mahasraddha. No need to book, just turn up a few minutes before we start. Each Sangha evening varies, but there will usually be short talks and discussion, often in small groups, with a short break around the mid-point and a closing ritual. This time Mahasraddha leads.
Mahasraddha on Exploring Dukkha:
Buddhism begins with dukkha as a motivating force to change our lives. Thus, dukkha is a very important experience for us. Our relationship to it, and how we respond to it, is crucial in our growth and development. Thoughts and feelings constantly combine with deep-seated habits to determine the next moment of consciousness in response to dukkha.
So, what is dukkha? How do we experience dukkha in our own lives? How do we respond to dukkha and use it as a potentially transforming experience helping us let go of cyclic conditionality – the Wheel – and move onto the Spiral Path?
We will be exploring dukkha with a talk, discussion and guided meditation, concluding with a short ritual. Do join us to explore dukkha in your own experience and hear others’ experience too.
Who is the event for?Suitable for anyone who has experience of our two meditation practices, Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana, and is open to Buddhist ritual.
