Living the Suttas – Exploring Ancient Buddhist Texts
Sun 29th May : 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Dharmakarunya leads a new monthly discussion group for Mitras and Order Members wanting to understand more deeply the teachings of the suttas, and put them into practice in their lives. The Sutta for today’s meeting is the Attadanda Sutta (Sutta Nipata IV:15) – please read it in advance and bring a print or virtual copy with you.
Living the Suttas
The suttas of the Pali Canon provide our most direct link to the Buddha; his enlightened mind speaking straight to our minds. The suttas are of immense value to our practice, yet we may find their form and language unfamiliar in the twenty-first century world. Approaching the suttas together can help us understand their meaning and apply the teachings in our practice.
We will (re-) discover the suttas together in a friendly, informal and practical way, and reading the sutta in advance will help us go more deeply into the words of the Buddha.
• Future dates: 12th June, 10th July, 7th August, 4th September
