Tools for Living: Work as Practice – In-Person Only
Sat 4th Jun : 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

A friendly and practical weekly introduction to Buddhism and meditation, with the option of joining us online or attending in-person at the Centre – no need to book ahead. We cover a different topic each time, usually in series lasting a few weeks each, and each session includes a period of led meditation. This week though, Vishangka and Cia lead a one-off practical session here at the Centre, in-person only, on work as a Buddhist practice.
Everyone Welcome, any Saturday
Whether you are completely new to Buddhism and meditation or want to revisit the core teachings in a friendly group, join us for a warm welcome on most Saturday mornings. Come once or as often as you like and there's no need to be here for the beginning of a series - each session stands alone and we always start with a recap. Shakyajata, Mahabodhi and/or Suryasraddha usually lead the sessions with a team of friends from the Centre.Payment
£6 standard rate or £4 concessionary rate
Problem paying? We don’t want to turn anyone away. If you are unable to pay the suggested rates, please contact the Centre Team on info@manchesterbuddhistcentre.org.uk and we’ll work something out with you.
Work as a Buddhist Practice
Practical work such as cleaning, cooking and taking care of the buildings we practise within, and taking care of each other, has been an aspect of Buddhist tradition since the Buddha’s time. The Triratna Buddhist Community has also emphasised work as practice through its Team Based Right Livelihood businesses.
Cia and Vishangka will both talk from personal experience of what work as practice means to them. There’ll be a chance to explore the theme in small groups, and then we’ll all have the opportunity to work together in cleaning the Centre. This will replace the usual monthly 1 pm cleaning slot on this Saturday.
