Tools for Living: Doing Less, Being More

Hybrid Hybrid Event

A friendly and practical weekly introduction to Buddhism and meditation, with the option of joining us online on the day, or booking to attend in-person at the Centre. We cover a different topic each time, usually in series lasting a few weeks each.

Doing Less, Being More

This week we take a break from the current theme for a one-off session led by Kevin. He says:

We often go through life in a state of incessant activity. We want to achieve, reach the next goal, often never stopping for breath! We could call this the ‘doing mode’.

However, there is also another mode – ‘being mode’. In this mode, we pause and appreciate life, with its inherent beauty and richness. Of course, we sometimes need to get on with things, but we can do this in a way that brings mindfulness, gratitude and kindness to everything we do.

Through meditation and Buddhist practice, we can bring more balance to these two modes of being. The result of this is that everything we do becomes an opportunity to grow, enjoy and wholeheartedly engage. All are welcome to join me as we explore how to do this, firstly through meditation practice and then in all areas of our lives.

Come to the Centre or Join us Online

From September this class returns to the Buddhist Centre after eighteen months running successfully online. There is space for around twenty people to attend in-person, and you'll need to book and pay in advance for that please - booking opens on the website a couple of weeks ahead. No need to book to join through Zoom, no limit on numbers attending online, and the price is the same for both options. Whichever way you come, please be here in good time for a prompt and comfortable start. If you're coming to the Centre, please also read our advice on visiting the Centre in person.

£6 standard rate or £4 concessionary rate

Problem paying? We don't want to turn anyone away. If you are unable to pay the suggested rates, please contact the Centre Team on info@manchesterbuddhistcentre.org.uk and we'll work something out with you.
