Yorkshire Three Peaks Fundraiser

Sat 9th Jul

Walkers at Pen Y Ghent

A group of us are walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for Manchester Buddhist Centre. Please support us through our GoFundMe page. As a charity we rely on the generosity of everyone who values the Centre to keep our doors and activities open to as many people as possible.

Building Community

Organising activities together with old and new friends, and supporting others, is part of our spiritual practice, so it’s great to be back with another major outdoor fundraiser after putting them on hold in March 2020. There are 25 of us taking part in this summer’s challenge, including Peter Tristram, Karunatara, Silabodhi, Siladevi, Sripaksini, Sam, Sion, Paul and Steven, with Peter doing much of the organising. We started our practice walks at the end of May, along with a dog called Peanut, and there’s more lined up, so we’re ready to go! If you have your own transport and want to join us, please contact Peter through the Centre.

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under twelve hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.
