CANCELLED: Young Buddhists Group

Fri 17th Apr : 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Young Buddhists
The Coronavirus outbreak means Manchester Buddhist Centre is now closed to the public until at least 30th June. We will, of course, update you as more advice is given. If you are currently booked on a course or event which falls during this closure period, we will be contacting you by email to discuss your options.

Sharing our Practice

Practising mindfulness and loving-kindness during times of crisis is ultimately what supports us all to stay emotionally positive and to grow. We are therefore committed to continuing to share our teachings and practices with you during this challenging period. We are taking some of our classes and courses online, so please sign up to our mailing list and check our website regularly. During this period we'll be responding to emails at info@manchesterbuddhistcentre.org.uk but we won't be answering phone calls. The Buddha taught that we are deeply interconnected in seen and unseen ways. This virus has affected us all and we as a community continue to send our well-wishing and care to all those throughout the world who have been severely affected by the virus.

A friendly informal group for people in their late teens, twenties and thirties, led by young people for young people. We are supporting one another to deepen our experience of the Dharma, through friendship, events and study. No need to book, just turn up a few minutes before we start. No charge, but as an unfunded charity, we rely on the generosity of people who use and value the Centre to help cover running costs, over £6,000 a week. We will welcome donations on the day and beyond.

Who is the Centre’s Young Buddhists Group for?

Anyone aged 18 to 35 who has learned the two meditation practices we teach here – mindfulness of breathing and Metta Bhavana – and is interested in practising Buddhism with other younger people. We usually meet on the third Friday evening of the month. Interested? Just come along to one of our meetings or get in touch with us through reception. The group is currently led by Sanghadhara and Dan Johnston. We also have a YoungBuddhistsMBC group on Facebook.

• Look out for a new evening course on Tuesdays for people aged 18-30 – Starts on 28th April

Health Issues

If there are any health issues, physical, emotional or mental, that could affect your participation in a course or event, please contact the Buddhist Centre on 0161 834 9232, and ask to talk confidentially to one of our Order members, before deciding whether to attend.
