Young Buddhists @ Dr Ambedkar Festival
Mon 19th Oct : 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
A friendly informal group for young adults over eighteen, led by young people for young people.
This week, instead of the usual Checkin, we will be joining the Dr Ambedkar Festival being held by the centre. Dr Ambedkar was a great social reformer who dedicated his life to improving the lives of India’s Untouchables, a ‘caste’ or class of society that have been repressed and persecuted for centuries. He decided that the way to break this pattern was to convert to Buddhism, along with 380,000 of his followers.
Although he died shortly after he converted, his work continues to liberate people from the ‘hell of caste’. Dr Ambedkar also inspires many more around the world looking to shake off the shackles of persecution and, as Dr Ambedkar said ‘battle for freedom’.
Join us this evening to hear more about Dr Ambedkar and how his work and message are as relevant today as they ever have been.
Who is the Centre’s Young Buddhists Group for?
