Young Buddhists Group – Exploring Meaningful Communication
Mon 2nd May : 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every month that begins at 7:00 pm on day 2 of the month, repeating indefinitely
“Let us use words that do not cause us pain. Let us use words that do not hurt each other.” Vangisa – poet-disciple, Sutta Nipata
We are constantly engaging in communication throughout our day, ranging from light, small talk to deeper, meaningful conversations. However, it’s often the former. At work we may only make polite conversation. With friends we may keep it cheerful. If we are lucky there are those whom we can communicate with from a more vulnerable place. This type of communication can be very enriching. When communication is done right, we can better understand others, and they can better understand us.
In the session we will look at what the Buddha taught around communication. We will also be exploring how to communicate effectively and listen attentively. There will be some final reflection on times in our lives when communication has gone well.
A Friendly Informal Group for Young Adults over Eighteen
Led by young people for young people, we are supporting one another to deepen our experience of the Dharma, through friendship, events and study.
Who is the Young Buddhists Group for?
Anyone aged 18 – 30 who is interested in exploring and practising Buddhism with other younger people. We meet on the first and third Monday evening of the month. Interested? Just come along to one of our meetings or get in touch with us through the Centre. We also have a Manchester Young Buddhists Group on Facebook.
There’s no need to book. We gather together in the Buddhist Centre lounge about 30 minutes before the start of the session and sometimes hang out together afterwards. It’ll be great to have you with us!Before coming here, please read our advice on visiting the Centre in person for up-to-date information on our Covid precautions.
