Ethical Shopping at our Centre
So many beautiful and useful things in our shop . . .
We do our best to buy from ethical suppliers and small local businesses, also avoiding animal products and favouring fair trade. We’re usually open six days a week, seven until 24th December (shop open 11-3 pm on Sundays) and we have some lovely cards and wrapping paper too.
We’re a registered charity and rely on shop sales to help keep our Centre warm and welcoming to the people of Manchester and beyond. Come and have a look around, make a brew, and ask us pretty much anything.
Buddha statues, incense and singing bowls
Buddhas in many sizes and materials, a lot of them from small, family-run craft businesses in Nepal, with part of the profit going to local charities there. Incense from Morning Star, Nag Champa, Phoenix Import and more, some of it organic, and there’s little fair-trade gift sets too. We love it when visitors try out the singing bowls!
On Buddhism, meditation and mindfulness from many angles – ask for a recommendation. Also yoga, cookery, books for children and families, Marie Kondo, Hermann Hesse, Ruby Wax . . .
Crystal lotuses, vegan chocolate, perfume oils and burners, or how about gift vouchers if you’re stuck? And our secondhand books shelves are a great option to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Malas or prayer beads
Traditionally made with 108 beads and used to repeat mantras, mark the breaths in meditation, or simply as a visual reminder of our practice. Most of ours are made by local Order Member, Moksavadini
Yoga and meditation kit
Mats, blocks, stools, everything you need to support your practice. We’ve got some great meditation cushions at the moment – try them out!
